Overview
RevScan ("the App") is developed and operated by Denver Freelance LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use RevScan. We are committed to protecting your privacy. In short: we collect nothing, store nothing, and share nothing.
Information We Do NOT Collect
RevScan does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following:
- ✗ Personal information (name, email, address, phone number)
- ✗ Vehicle identification numbers (VINs)
- ✗ Diagnostic data, fault codes, or sensor readings
- ✗ Location data or GPS information
- ✗ Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- ✗ Usage analytics or crash reports
- ✗ Bluetooth device information
Data Storage
All data generated by RevScan — including diagnostic session history, fault codes, and sensor readings — is stored exclusively on your device using local storage. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to Denver Freelance LLC or any third party. You can delete this data at any time by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app.
Third-Party Services
RevScan makes one external network connection:
NHTSA Vehicle Database (vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov)
When you use the VIN Lookup feature, RevScan sends only your vehicle's 17-character VIN to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's free public API to retrieve vehicle information. No personal data is sent. The NHTSA is a U.S. government agency. Their privacy policy can be found at nhtsa.gov.
Permissions
RevScan requests the following Android permissions:
Bluetooth
Required to connect to your ELM327 OBD-II adapter. Used only for communication with the adapter — no Bluetooth data is stored or transmitted elsewhere.
Location (Bluetooth Scanning)
Android requires location permission to scan for nearby Bluetooth devices. RevScan does not use, record, or transmit your location data.
Camera (Optional)
Used only for the VIN barcode scanner feature. Camera access is only active when you are actively using the scanner. No images or video are stored.
Internet
Used exclusively for VIN lookups via the NHTSA API. No other network requests are made.
Children's Privacy
RevScan is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Since RevScan collects no information from any user, this is not a concern in practice.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of RevScan after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

RevScan works with any ELM327 OBD-II adapter — a small device that plugs into the OBD-II port under your dashboard. They're inexpensive and widely available online and in auto parts stores.

Where is the OBD-II port?
Every OBD-II vehicle has a 16-pin diagnostic port — usually located under the dashboard on the driver's side, within reach of the steering column. It's a trapezoid-shaped connector. Just plug the adapter in and you're ready to go.
